Hey diy Ass-kicker!

Just checking in with you.

Women are going a bit bat-shit crazy right now, trying to figure out the roller coaster of emotions they’re experiencing…the anxiety, the sadness, the frustration, the exhaustion, the frequent shifts from feeling one thing to another.

I feel it too…the ups, the downs, and the somewhere in betweens. It’s all thanks to Covid-19, and from where I sit the roller coaster is a sign of stress.

Stress is our reaction to change or challenge. Our Covid shit-kicking means change and challenge, and most of which we can do absolutely nothing about.

Add to that the fact that we women are emotional-absorbers. We suck in all the emotional distress around us, usually without even realizing we’re doing it. Double whammy on the stress scale.

And that’s why I’m checking in with you.

How is your stress? Ya, I know. We’re all stressed right now.

But don’t brush it off simply because it’s something everyone is feeling too and ignore your own experience just because it’s common. Common or not, you are always worth looking after yourself.

Stress can play complete havoc with our minds, our emotions, and our bodies. When it sticks around for a while (thanks COVID), stress can subtly take up residence in our bodies and create symptoms that range from impatience with people around us to insomnia to heart issues. Some symptoms are obvious, some are well hidden. It’s up to us to pay attention to our own experiences with stress and how they make us feel.

This is actually a lesson in deep core awareness. Notice what stresses you and why.

Notice where it shows up in your body. And consider what you can do to reduce the stress you are experiencing. Like taking a break and chillin’ out, saying no when you need to, or getting enough sleep. Then do the things that leave you feeling strong and whole.

Me? I’ve been taking a full day of doing anything I want to, even if it’s cleaning a toilet.

It’s my way of honouring what I need over what I am asked to do for others.

P.S. While this kind of exploration is totally my jam, if you are experiencing stress symptoms that you know you need more support with, please speak to your doc. Otherwise, reach out lady, some 1-1 coaching will help you get to the answers you need to manage your stress better. Plus there is my free 30-minute De-Stressing session as part of my Covid-19 programs.

And if you need any more motivation to support yourself during a stressful time, consider what you will be mirroring to your daughters, sisters, girlfriends. If you start making time to do what brings your stress down, you might just be influencing other women to do the same.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it…

Join our next weekly Zoom Wine Party and share about what you need to reduce your stress. We’re all in this together!
