It was a regular weekday morning. There was nothing particularly notable about it.
I had a decent sleep. The mosquitos kept me from the woods again so I walked the neighbourhood loop instead. I noticed the weather is feeling a bit fall-ish already so when I got home, I grabbed a zip up hoodie (bunny hug to all you western Canadians) and shoved my arm into a sleeve to warm me up as I waited for the coffee.
And there is was. My eyes went wide, a smile spread across my face, and a sense of all is right in the world melted over me.
Right there in the sleeve of my hoodie was my elusive dryer ball.
I’m a bit of an orderly person, so I fully admit that when a dryer ball goes missing, and for the life of me I can’t find it, things feel slightly off balance. Nothing that follows me out of the laundry room, but I admit to feeling a tad off kilter when 4 dryer balls go in, and fewer remain after the clothes are folded up.
It’s not like they are particularly pretty dryer balls. On the contrary, they are just cotton balls full of stains from the essential oils I drop on them now and again to freshen up the dryer.
Yet, like so many of the little things that we know create a sense of goodness in us, those dryer balls are important to me. So when I found that one, it put a huge smile on my face.
It’s not really about the dryer balls, of course. It’s about allowing ourselves to feel good, in whatever way our feeling good shows up. I’m in a headspace to fully allow the dryer balls or anything else into my awareness if it’s going to make me feel good.
If you’re still struggling with allowing in your feeling good, maybe there are things holding you back. The muck of life can be pretty sticky and while it may feel “normal” to us simply because that’s what we know, it’s doesn’t open us up to anything that makes us smile.
Let’s choose ourselves and what serves us best, and allow ourselves to feel as good as we can!
I don’t know about you, but I’m not available for the muck anymore, my own or anyone else’s. No negative talk for me, no drama, and no judgements or trying to change anyone else or their actions. I take complete responsibility for my own experiences and my outcomes, and I use my voice to say what I need so I can have the experiences I want.
All that aligns with my inner self, leaving me in a state of flow where any old blocks no longer exist. So when I look for specific goodness, goodness shows up for me. This day, that goodness just happened to be in the sleeve of my hoodie apparently.
When we allow ourselves to be the person we want to be and know we are, it’s amazing what arrives. When we release the attachments to anything but unconditional love for ourselves and others in this way, no matter what, life is different. Life is good.
Here’s a bit of a challenge for you, something I like to practice with my 3 grandkids. We look for hearts, which fits since they all have mine. ❤️
We look for hearts and text pictures of them to one another. You’d be amazed at where we’ve found them … in food, in leaves, in rocks, and even in bird poop on the sidewalk! And it’s fun to get messages that my littles are thinking of the greatest symbol for love that exists, the heart. They too are in flow so what we all intentionally look for, just arrives. Try it, its very cool!
What kind of goodness might arrive for you? There are lots of choices, of course.
But the very first one is to allow it all in.
