I’m back in! Yay!
After what felt like forever when it actually wasn’t, my office has been reno’d and I get to move all my stuff back in. I love moving; looking at space, walls, and furniture with fresh eyes all with the desire for both cozy and fun!
What was the first thing I did when I got in there? Set up my bookshelves.
That seemed super important to me, since those shelves contain musings and thoughts, learnings, and inner clarity of so many issues and experiences I’ve had over the years that I love to revisit.
I forgot I had this one! What was the nugget I got from it when I first read it?
What was happening in my life when The Creation of Feminist Consciousness or Motherless Daughters came out and landed on my shelves?
How many aha moments did I have when I first read Brene Brown’s I Thought It Just Was Me (But It Isn’t)?
While I was there, I felt certain books had done what they came to me to do, and now needed to be shared. I’m good with that, and I don’t have a hard time releasing them, unlike the man I live with. 🙂
But there were others I needed to keep, still hold as important and still learn from. I found so many books that I knew had lessons I needed to revisit; our shit does have a habit of raising itself up every now and again, probably to remind us that we’re human.
Noticing we have an attachment to something is a place for us to look inside and figure out what that attachment is and what it means to us or for us. It’s a simple tool for creating awareness, and awareness of ourselves is friggin’ everything. There’s no judgment involved, just understanding ourselves a bit more.
My pride and joy on my bookshelves are my own books, ones that I know will live on someone else’s shelf for a long time too, since connecting to the stories of real-life will go on forever.
What’s on your bookshelf right now? I hope you have books that speak to your soul, and will continue to until they’re ready to be shared.
Want to have one of my books on your shelf?
If you hit reply and send me a message with the title of a book that you’ve had for a while but you’re still connected to and why (the most important part), plus your addy, I’ll send you whichever edition of Find Your Voice, Save Your Life you’d like to have. Free to you for taking the time to look inside.
Fill your life with things that support you, love you, and help you grow to be the closest version of yourself you can get to. Use your insides to create your outside experiences.
That’s using your voice.
