New year, new you! Right?
Naa… let’s not.
It hurts my heart some to see people jump on the new year resolution band wagon. First, because we can make changes any time we are called to, and second, there is never, ever a time to be a “new you”.
You’ve likely heard me say repeatedly on this blog that we can, and should, make changes for ourselves as we become aware of what isn’t working for us. Things like meditation and journalling are great ways to connect with our inner us and do our own self-assessments. When we find something we’re thinking, doing, or being isn’t aligned with our own inner truth, we can spend time figuring out what will work and then shift into more self-serving actions. Rinse and repeat! Which is why we do those deep dives for inner understanding on a daily basis.
It’s not a new YOU required, it’s a better version of you, one leaves you feeling more at peace with yourself and closer aligned with your own authentic, true self. One that YOU determine on YOUR own time frame by doing things that YOU are called to do.
Acceptance of who you are now is important, it’s your base of self-understanding and knowledge. Your deep core is where your goodness lives, where your unconditional, high vibe self that knows everything about you lives. It’s truly with acceptance of self that you can grow and push your limits, not to be famous or filthy rich perhaps, but to simply be the best version of you that you can be.
And there are no limits to what you can do, zero, nada. Maybe you’ll be famous or filthy rich but it will be for doing something that you know in your deep core will improve your life experiences and those of the people around you.
We’re on this earth to have great lives full of abundance of all kinds. It’s the social influences and old wounds that make us think differently. Go with your truth, go with your own self-alignment, go with your heart instead.
Ya, let’s not follow the calendar.
Let’s not compare new years’s resolutions with our friends after midnight strikes. Let’s not give away our own inner power to be true to ourselves and shine to the world.
And truly make this year a happy one.
