One of the first things I learned when I started to use my voice was to redirect responsibility.
I was basing my decisions on what I knew would please others without looking inside at what would please me. When things didn’t work out, I blamed them for what was happening to me, like they had control over how I felt, over my life.
Boom. It was time to do some big mind shifts in how I talked to myself and redirect the beliefs that kept me there. It was time to kick my own ass. Learning how to do that and practicing it literally changed my life. I now look after my side of the street.
I believe that our time on earth first and foremost is to offer ourselves unconditional love that has us honouring our body’s and our soul’s needs. But left to our own devices, and faced with beliefs that don’t serve us, we often ignore those needs. And we don’t use our voice to express exactly what we need, particularly rest, nourishment and high vibe positivity.
Our thoughts and beliefs are what’s behind the lack of care for ourselves because they direct our behaviour. If we feel like shit or are stuck in blaming and shaming others for what they do or don’t do, we don’t feel like honouring or caring for ourselves.
The good thing is that mindsets are manageable. There’s meditation to connect with ourselves, journalling to get our experiences out, exercise to sweat it out, being in nature to calm our souls, and connecting with high vibe people and places that remind us that we feel better when we shift to a positive mindset.
My fav? It’s in the moment management. I am responsible for what is going on for me in my head as well as my body and soul. I stop, consciously feel what I am feeling without letting it mean anything about me, and decide what I prefer to be thinking and feeling, and go there. It’s simple but super effective.
We need to take full responsibility for what our body and soul need, and make them happen. That’s doing the work to become aware of what our triggers are and get past what keeps us apart from our authentic selves, no excuses and no letting anyone or anything get in our way. Do life as we need it done, that’s true self-alignment.
Care to join me in kicking our own asses?
