Have you ever felt that burning desire to do something more, something that truly resonates with your soul? Embracing your passion is not just about finding what you love; it’s about allowing that love to fuel your journey and voice.

When we consistently do things we are “supposed” to do, it’s easy to lose touch with what makes us feel alive. We often find ourselves caught up in routines and expectations that don’t serve our true selves. But your passion still lives in you.

You know I’m going to remind you that your voice is your power. It’s the expression of your true self, the bridge between your inner self and the outer world. It is how we bring our passion to our human life.

My Mom loved kids, so much so that she opened our home to up to 10 troubled young boys at a time. I recently had the chance to read some letters those kids wrote to her after they left our home. The horrific reality of what they went through in their young lives and the beautiful relationship they had with my Mom was an emotional read for me. What she gave those boys was the normalcy of love and family.

Growing up in such a busy household wasn’t always easy, but I always knew it was what Mom was meant to do. This was her passion.

She had to do three things to live her passion. First, Mom had to recognize the passion in herself by connecting with what truly brought her joy. Second, she had to trust in her own ability to pull it off; there was no room for second-guessing or listening to her ego that could have told her there were far too many things that would get in her way. Third, she had to take that passion from inside her and voice it in the world to make it all happen.

Not only am I proud of how my Mom showed up in the world for all of us and all of those kids, but I am also proud that she didn’t let barriers get in the way of her living her passion, even though her own young life was challenging. She left the human world almost 30 years ago, and how she lived her passion is still a model for me and is part of much of my teaching.

I know that our passion is the last thing on the bottom of the neverending list and rarely makes its way to the top. We think we need to take care of everyone and everything else first, then if we’re not too tired, we’ll maybe do something that really, truly, lights us up.

I also know that passion is something that requires attention, even if we fear judgment, rejection, or simply don’t know how to begin.

Passion is part of us, and it deserves to be let out.

So, what makes your heart sing? What brings tears to your eyes when you witness it? What is so important to you that you know you are not fully aligned with yourself with it?

And what would you do with all that if you had nothing in your way?

My mom taught me about passion, and I honour that. My passion is on these pages, in the Find Your Voice, Save Your Life books, and in the groups I run to help you find and use your voice.

Voice empowerment is connecting to and expressing our passion.

I’m getting a “Hell yes” from my Mom.
