My body has been challenging me lately.

When it began to shift gears on me, being well-versed in needing to take responsibility for my outcomes, I thought about all the things I may have been doing or not doing to cause the discomfort. All the physical things, the food, the supplements that I took or didn’t take, that attraction to caffeinated coffee again. I went through everything, but couldn’t see what was keeping me close to home.

Has your body given you something other than optimum health at some point in your life? I’m not talking about the odd cold. It’s like my body took over in ways I never expected.

I mean, I’m a healthy eater, other than my obsession with chocolate. I don’t exercise like I used to, but I’m way more active than a couch potato. I try hard to notice when my body is tired before my brain decides it’s done for the day. And I spend lots of time with family and friends who light me up. But nothing seemed to bring me relief.

After meditating a lot and with the support of some amazing healing friends, I came to understand the issue. I wasn’t paying enough attention to myself and my needs. I had 2 separate emotionally-based issues that were screaming for my attention, and my body manifested just enough discomfort to remind me to look after my own shit.

It wasn’t that I didn’t know what was happening emotionally; I knew full well, just like you do. I just didn’t want to admit that, even though it was complicated, I had to make some deep choices that supported and loved me first and honour others by allowing them to respond how they choose.

The hardest thing in the world, I swear, isn’t being energetically called out for not looking after your own shit; it’s continually choosing thoughts and actions that we absolutely 100% know are not good for us. Sadly, there is great shame attached to knowing it’s us that we are throwing under the bus.

Ya, I know, there are tons of reasons why we do that. But here’s the thing: as long as we let them, those excuses never go away. They hang around until our bodies feel the pain and discomfort of illness, of the little or the big kind. We need to ditch all the excuses and start considering our self-honour, our health, and our happiness in the same breath.

The energetic part of us has spoken, and we are being asked to live in more harmony with our own body and heart space. Harmony that comes from aligning with what we NEED, we WANT, and we DESIRE.

Is it hard to do? Fuck yes. It can be super scary, which is exactly why you haven’t done it by now. But there is no schedule that you need to keep. No rules for what this has to look like for you, or where you need to start.

There is just you, a woman who knows exactly what needs to change in her life to align herself with the unconditional love and joy she knows she deserves. The physical, emotional, and energetic kind.
