When was the last time you let yourself have real, unapologetic fun? Not the kind that’s scheduled and measured, but the spontaneous, childlike kind that makes you laugh until you snort and makes you forget, just for a moment, about the world’s expectations.

Doesn’t that sound yummy? 😁

But then “reality” jumps in and we don’t ALLOW ourselves to go there.

I’m too old for being silly.
I had a shitty day.
I need to work late.
My brother’s neighbour’s dog just died.

That’s not allowing, it’s blocking your precious self from having an experience that will not only feel amazing, but raise your vibration as well. Allowing both of those things into your life will make a difference in how you see the world around you, and will also help others do the same. Like is attracted to like.

I used to believe that healing was a serious undertaking. If I wasn’t digging deep or working hard on myself, I wasn’t making progress. But life has a way of nudging us—sometimes gently, sometimes not so much—into remembering that fun is just as much a part of healing as reflection and growth.

Fun isn’t frivolous – it’s fuel!

Letting yourself have fun isn’t just about feeling good in the moment (though that’s a pretty great reason too). It’s about giving your needs and your voice space to come forward without judgment. When you laugh, play, or do something simply because it delights you, you’re practicing self-honour in its purest form. You’re showing yourself—and anyone watching—that your needs and wants matter.

Allowing yourself to have fun is a necessary part of our lives. We can sit in our own stew of our past or current reality and bring on more of it. Or, we can remind ourselves that we have a choice, and it’s ok to take time for ourselves and do what makes us feel good. We don’t have to be stuck in negative space, even if we have negative shit to manage.

So, what’s holding you back from letting loose? Is it the fear of being seen as silly, less serious, less committed, or even less worthy? Is it that you’ve been so stuck in a negative narrative that it’s hard to shift over to the fun side? I’ve totally been there too, so if you need a safe space to share all that, as well as your dreams and your beautiful childish aspirations, let’s meet for coffee and yak it out. ☕
