I truly believe that our experiences are up to us. We are sovereign souls who can, and should, pick and choose experiences that make us feel how we want to feel.

But, here’s the thing. Sometimes the shit hits the fan, and life deals you a less-than-stellar hand, one that you may not purposely choose for yourself.

Even if you have expanded and ascended to the point where you can take your circumstances and dissect them to see what more you can learn about yourself, sometimes you just don’t feel like it. Sometimes you just don’t feel like acknowledging the level of consciousness of others involved, instead of judging them.

Sometimes you just want to hit the couch or do something else that is equally as stagnant. And that’s ok. That’s you allowing yourself to have an experience that feels right to you.

I’ve certainly been there, and it took me a long time to figure out how to manage this kind of blip in my existence. We don’t have to ignore how we feel; in fact, feeling our feelings is important.

We just need to listen to the energy.

Energy comes and goes in us and around us all the time. Some of us are aware of it in the moment, some of us just feel like shit and don’t know why, usually numbing with habits that may not totally serve us. Either way, checking in with your energy is your check-in with yourself.

To hear the energy, you have to go inside yourself, and that won’t happen if your head is running a program like “why is this happening to me????”

Get quiet, sit still by yourself. Close the door and wear noise-cancelling headphones if need be.

Breathe in the good, breathe out the busyness in your head. Stay as long as you need to feel relaxed.

Then just listen. Visualize the energy that you feel laden with. Place your hands on the spot where you feel or imagine it, and sit with it like you would with someone you were trying to support. Talk to it, and feel into what it means to or for you.

It could simply be that you need a nap, or to be in nature, or to triple-check that people in your circle are still people you resonate with. Or it could be something you empathically picked up from someone else. (We empaths do that sometimes and should clear our energy regularly.)

Let yourself feel your energy. If that leads you to strong emotions, feel those. Let yourself have a meltdown if you need, cry, yell, whatever arrives for you. That is you connecting with the energy and feeling what it’s about.

Take as long as you need to feel complete with whatever the energy brings you.
Once you have your clarity, even if it’s only a piece of the puzzle, you can say thank you and release it. Follow through with supporting yourself with that nap, that walk, and/or that reflection on whatever came up for you. Then you can go back to the high vibe you that actively looks for good experiences.

Remember that energy arrives not to mess our shit up, but to show us the contrast between what we authentically want and what we don’t want, or what needs tweaking.

Expecting to always be on our game isn’t realistic; we don’t live in an energetic or human bubble. We won’t be positive, enthusiastic, loving and happy all the time. We are living a human life that is full of highs and lows, and the ups and downs of emotion, energy and expression. That’s what makes us unique and actually rather cool.

I’m not sure about you, but I want to experience all there is this lifetime, especially since everything we learn helps us live better human and spiritual lives.

Feeling lousy?

We are all energy. Just start there.
