It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and you gotta know that everyone will have gratitude on the brain.
Me included. It’s hard to ignore being grateful when giving thanks for the abundance before us is really the purpose of the holiday.
Tell me. Where is the first place you look for things that you are grateful for?
Like most of us, it’s likely outside sources. The love partner, the kids, the house, the job, the money, the friends, the relationships.
And those are all awesome things to be grateful for. But given that our happy is an inside job, I’m asking you to also look into your deep core for things that you’re grateful for. This is not an exercise on what you have, it’s an exercise on who you are being.
Maybe you’re grateful for striving to be the partner you want to be, so you can have the relationship you want.
Maybe you’re grateful for feeling the love in your heart, so you always have it to lead from.
Maybe you’re grateful for the reminders from the Universe that may not seem great in the moment but help you make your life even better.
Maybe you’re grateful for being the loyal and committed friend who stays connected no matter how often you see one another.
Maybe you’re grateful for always striving to be the mom that you want to be, to grow and teach little beings in ways that only you can see.
Maybe you’re grateful for the acceptance that helps you remember that people don’t need to change for you to feel good.
Maybe you’re grateful for the forgiveness that lets you feel ok when you chose to continue a dicey relationship (your Aunt Mavis????).
Maybe you’re grateful for the grace that helps you deal with drama.
Maybe you’re grateful for the generosity that lets you help others.
Maybe you’re grateful for the understanding of who you want to be in your life, and the perseverance to keep working to get there.
Gratitude is not about just what you can see on the outside, you get to be grateful for how you show up every day. And you should.
You made it. You decided to be that. And acknowledging what it is lets you change it if you want to. Plus remember that it’s the inside that determines how you feel about your outside.
You, on this Thanksgiving and all year long, can be proud of the woman you are being.
Because your feel great is all part of the abundance that you carry with you every day. The abundance that needs to be acknowledged in it entirety.
So take 5 today, away from the turkey or tofurkey.
Who are you being that you are grateful for?
There will be so much there!
