Life is pretty nuts right now. Seems that everyone is scrambling to make this holiday super special since the year has been so rough on everyone.

I love that! Even if the scrambling means that it’s super annoying when the last string of lights is sold out or the lineup to get that cookie dough ingredient is just too long to wait in.

I love how people are recognizing their need to feel good. But there are two ways to look at feeling good.

One is something like “Screw 2020, I’m tired of it being such a pain in the butt so I’m going to go buy whatever I want to feel better.” There is that.

Then there is the softer approach to feeling good that first acknowledges all the stresses we’ve had this year, unprecedented stresses that no one knows what to do with. And secondly that is the best time to offer our hearts and souls some big love.

One of those ways of making ourselves feel better is trying to fill the void that comes from feeling shitty. The other is awareness of what we truly need to feel good.

I get it. After a rough time, I want to do anything to stop feeling shitty. But unless I am selective about how I do that and remind myself that love and compassion always rule,
I’m not doing myself any favours. None.

This holiday, I too am called to make myself feel good. I’m decorating to my liking. I’m booking real downtime. I’m planning on reading the books I’d like to catch up on. I’m playing games with my grandkids and loving on my hubby. All things that truly make me feel good from the inside out.

We do deserve to feel good. I promise you will feel better if you do the things that you know will support you in the long run, not just until the online shopping spree is over.

What will you do to make yourself feel good leading up to or during the holidays?

There’s still time to do yourself a favour…

P.S. If you haven’t, there is still time to join me for my 3 Steps To Using Your Voice!

Spread the love
