Hey diy Ass-kickers!

Are you on a self-help hamster wheel? What a weird saying that is! Can you actually picture yourself right now on a hamster wheel?  

Funny as it seems, we’ve all been there. And here’s how our thoughts go while we’re there…

I wanna be more zen. 
I wanna be healthier.
I wanna stop being such a bitch.

All those are really great reasons to reach out for some help for the ailing self, and I hear them all the time. Yep, even the bitchy one.

 
And what’s wrong with that approach? 

What you experience on the surface in terms of behavior you don’t like in yourself is just the tip of the iceberg. The majority of the stuff to figure out lies far deeper below. 

Yet we look for specific help with how we’re feeling and we expect it to work. Immediately. Like now.

And when it doesn’t, we internalize it to mean another failure for us. You’re back in shitty land because your attempts at self help didn’t really help at all.
That would for sure make me feel less zen, less healthy and pretty damn bitchy!

Stop being so piecemeal about your life honey. You are more than your need for calm. You are more than the bag of chips or bottle of wine you consumed while watching tv last night. And you are certainly more than your bitchiness.

You are a whole person. A woman who has many, many moving parts. Parts that don’t get attention until they yell at you and you go running for the hottest new self help book. It’s no coincidence that the hamster wheel squeaks with the whatever you think is your current issue.

Those moving parts are shallow and they’re deep. 

They’re beautiful and they’re ugly.

They’re social acceptable and sometimes not so much. 

You are worth the look at your whole life. Seeing where you’re missing happy and what that happy really is (with no shoulds or must do’s), and deciding from a bigger picture place what changes you can make that will support your wholeness.

It’s not a quick fix, and sometimes you have to do one thing at a time until new habits are created. But you’ll be doing them with a greater understanding of yourself and what you need. 

So Beautiful, do the work. Make the commitment. Don’t expect that snippets of self help advice will fix you.

Decide you want the change and go all-in!
