I’m sharing a guest blog for you today written by Hayley Verney, one of the amazing authors in Find Your Voice 3: Powerful Healers, Spiritual Stories. Each story in the book is different and each author has a different way of supporting women to become the version of themselves they love. This is part of Hayley’s journey to rise in her own truth.

Do you speak your truth, or just a version of it?

We’ve all watched court dramas where the candidates swear “to tell the truth and nothing but the truth”, typically following after hours of being prepped on how to answer potential questions from the jury.

Do you share everything about your story or your experience or just a version of it? How many times have you left out bits and pieces of your story in fear of feeling judged or rejected by the audience you are addressing? Do you stop yourself from sharing 100% of your truth in fear of triggering negative emotional reactions, creating conflict or avoid being accountable for an error you made?

Whilst writing my personal story in Find Your Voice, Save Your Life: Powerful Healers, Spiritual Stories, a book project led by Dianna, I realized that my version of the truth has evolved over the years as my levels of self-awareness and consciousness increased.

I shared in Chapter 12, Immerse Into Stillness: Connecting To Peace And Freedom, how a version of my truth had been influenced by anxiety, and later by freedom and inner peace. Read my story along with other soulful authors who all share a version of their truth.

VERSIONS OF THE TRUTH

Truth unfolds as we work through layers of conditioning and experience the world around us. How many times have we been requested to update the software on our phone or laptop to yet another version? Updating versions of software or documents is common practice, used to fix bugs in the operating system. When you equate these bugs to self-limiting beliefs or fears wired in your brain, your operating system, each time you work through a self-limiting belief or shift your perspective you update your version of the truth.

As our internal awareness develops, our inner and outer world changes. The way we express ourselves, who our friends are, our way of interacting, even the words we use all influence our version of our truth. Speaking your truth is a powerful tool to connect people to each other and create a sense of community and oneness. Speaking your truth also means giving other people the space to talk their truth and to listen to their truth even if you don’t align with it.

BE REAL NOT RIGHT

For me, speaking my truth involves sharing insights that have resonated with me at a specific time or phase of my life. As we navigate through life our beliefs, culture, environment, experiences and relationships shape us and our truth. It has been such a liberating experience for me and continues to unfold. I invite you to speak your truth; share your perspective and tell your story.
